Once you have decided you want to ship your car and have received your quote, there are a few things you will need to do and go over. First, you should start getting together all the documents you will need to ship your car. Next we will talk to you about any fees, regulations or restrictions along your route. After that we will go over methods of shipping and scheduling, insurance, and how to keep track of your car.

Assign a Carrier: Once we have gone over all of your transport options and scheduling, we will then assign your shipment to a carrier that matches your desired type of shipping and scheduling criteria. We will then schedule the pickup of your car.

The driver will make arrangements with you, or an authorized person of contact, at the pickup location before they arrive. After a thorough inspection of your vehicle, you and your driver will complete a bill of lading to verify the accuracy and condition of your car. The vehicle will then be loaded onto the carrier and will begin heading to the delivery location.

Delivery of Your Vehicle: The driver will once again contact you or an authorized person of contact with arrangements at the delivery location before they arrive. Your vehicle will then be offloaded and go through a final inspection to ensure that it is delivered in the same condition it was picked up in. If a remaining balance is due, you will pay it to the driver at this time.

This is used when the vehicle being shipped has engine damage and does not run, structural damage and cannot drive safely, or if the vehicle does not run well and there is a risk of it breaking down during the transport. All inoperable transports must have a key so that the vehicle may be put into neutral. The drivers use a winch to load the vehicle and to take it off of the truck.

All brokers list your vehicle on the same system. When you list with more than one broker, it creates confusion. Drivers will either avoid your transport all together or increase their rate. A vehicle posted with one broker will move with ease – multiple listings is the number one cause of delay when transporting.

Reputable firms do not collect a deposit until the carrier has been assigned (dispatched) to pick up the vehicle. If a broker asks you to pay on the first phone call, you’re paying before they’ve done their work.

Keep in mind that there are multiple vehicles on each truck. Pick up and scheduling are dependent on other vehicles. Don’t pin yourself down to one day for availability. If you need the vehicle picked up by a certain day because you are flying out, driving another vehicle, or may accrue storage fees at an auction or lot, give at least a 48-hour window before the deadline to allow pick up. It’s better to be early than have a delay and run out of options.
